Co-op advertising is money offered by manufacturers or distributors to assist retailers in advertising certain merchandise lines.

Co-op Advertising is what pays for most NATIONALLY advertised brands. When you see a GROCERY ad in the newspaper, Each Item advertised is paid for my the National Manufacturer. For Example, when you see a Kraft Cheese ad - THAT PORTION of the ad is paid for by Kraft.

The Grocer pays for the ad, but is REIMBURSED by the National Advertiser. Newspapers have a - National Line Rate = This is the rate the MANUFACTURER PAYS TO THE GROCER, and a Local Line Rate = which is the amount the GROCER ACTUALLY PAYS THE NEWSPAPER.
